A Basic Summary of Events…
Born in Temple, Texas on May 9, 1979, Megan McLean Harris spent the first ten years of her life in Gatesville, Texas, a small prison town near Waco. During her formative Jr. High years, her family moved to Denton, Texas where her father spent time as the regional director of F.E.M.A. The family, then, moved to San Antonio where Megan attended Churchill High School. She stayed busy in many extracurricular activities such as the student newspaper, student literary magazine and various language clubs.

Megan also played the trumpet in the band and became entirely consumed by music. The band won many prestigious awards, and Megan spent time in Western Europe with the American Musical Ambassadors touring musical ensemble. Her love affair with Hummel and Hayden was cut short after a devastating car accident that destroyed the lower half of her face, rendering her a musical invalid.

Having had hopes of one day performing musically in a professional setting, Megan was left with an uncertain future. She decided to attend the school that all of the women in her family had attended for the past eight generations. Unfortunately, Baylor University did not prove to be a good match. Megan made the best of a bad situation and threw herself into several campus organizations. Some highlights from college include:
fighting to recover some musical skill and playing with the Baylor band
serving as Program Director and DJ at the radio station, KWBU
fighting to save KWBU as a student organization in its last year of college radio
restarting the defunct 100 year old literary society
serving as a representative of the band
co-hosting the first secular concert on Baylor campus
starting a production company that produced three major concert events, and four major music videos
graduating with two majors and a minor in three and a half years

Megan earned degrees in filmmaking and history with hopes of becoming a documentary filmmaker. After college, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she gained experience as a computer system integrator, a public relations coordinator for a mental health clinic, and as an award-winning movie theatre manager, but with her strong personality made it hard for her to fit in within these positions.

In July of 2005, she decided to take a leap of faith and move to New Orleans, Louisiana, but was forced away by Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the town. She returned to her relatively undamaged house in Uptown six weeks later and worked several jobs to stay afloat during the uncertain time.

Megan still resides in New Orleans and works as the Advertising Executive for OffBeat Magazine . She frequently reads poetry at the Maple Leaf, The Goldmine and The Neutral Ground with friends Professor Robert Matlock and Artist Thaddeus Conti. Active in her community, Megan regularly volunteers with local reconstruction groups and donates to Catholic Charities.

Megan’s current list of projects include:
completing a writing project entitled The Beholder
completing a documentary film about William Bryan Massey III
watching all of the films on The AFI’s Top 100 Films of All Time
learning how to pick locks
applying for grants and scholarships for graduate schools
recording poetry with Thaddeus Conti
starting a new job with Off Beat Magazine
